Dental Services

If you don’t have dental insurance or can’t afford professional dental care, some communities and clinics offer discounted or free services to seniors in need. In addition, most dental schools offer low-cost checkups and cleanings. Contact the Pennsylvania Dental Association to find out what may be available in your area. Also check out the Bureau of Primary Health Care.

Another resource is the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped. Call 1-888-471-6334 for more information.

Mammograms

The Mammogram Voucher Program provides FREE mammograms and follow-up services to medically underinsured or uninsured women in 30 counties in Pennsylvania. Free bus passes are also provided in Allegheny County in order to get to your mammogram appointments.  For more information about if you qualify, call 1-888-MVP-0505 or visit  the Pittsburgh office of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure website.

Health Coverage for Uninsured Children

The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is Pennsylvania’s program to provide affordable, comprehensive healthcare coverage to all uninsured children and teens who are not eligible for or enrolled in Medical Assistance. No family makes too much money for CHIP because there is no income limit. For many families, it’s free. Families with incomes above the free CHIP limits will pay low monthly premiums and co-pays for some services.

For more information on the program, call 1-800-986-KIDS or visit the CHIP website.
